About Construction Eating: From the Makers
In creating Constructive Eating, we had families, like ours, in mind. From the early stages of feeding, to doing it all on their own, we use fun and functionality to bring the joy of eating back to the table.
Engineering Fun from the Start
It all began when our son fell in love with construction. Our whole house had transformed into a construction site: toy dump trucks parked in the living room. Power Cranes and cement trucks covered the carpets and sheets in his bedroom. Fork lifts replaced rubber ducks in the bathtub. It was only a matter of time before the trucks made their way to the kitchen, too.
One day, we found our son on the floor using his breakfast cereal as rubble for his bulldozer. That gave us an idea: what if breakfast, lunch, and dinner could become rubble for real? What if forks, spoons, and pushers were the “machines”? We put on our entrepreneurial hardhats and made the first fleet of Constructive Eating trucks.
What is the Pusher?
The Pusher is designed to help little ones develop the motor skills they need to operate a knife fork and spoon. Working with Constructive Eating’s patented ramp, the pusher makes great practice for moving food from plate to utensil.
What is the best age for your utensils and plates?
The most common age range for Constructive Eating is 6 months to 5 years. However, each person develops differently and can be used as early as deemed safe by the parent or guardian. Constructive Eating has also been useful for those with feeding disorders, arthritis, or bored eaters.
Constructive Eating utensils are used every day by the grown-ups who work at headquarters in Ann Arbor.
How can I clean your utensils and plates?
All of our utensils and plates are dishwasher safe.
Are your plates microwave safe?
Yes! Our plates have been tested for microwave safety by an unaffiliated, accredited, third-pary lab.

Constructive Eating utensils, plates, and placemats are all proudly made in the USA. Everything is designed by the original founder in Ann Arbor, manufactured in Illinois, and packaged by local students.
